Early childhood — especially those first years — is an amazing time for growth and development in a child’s life! We love having the opportunity to be a part of this early development by providing individualized direction and guidance for each child at Hope Lutheran. Here, infants and toddlers receive respectful, responsive, and personal child care. Using the HighScope Curriculum, our teachers nurture and support the children’s development in all areas, while providing the security and predictability infants and toddlers need to grow and learn.
The infant and toddler curriculum provides a balance between child-initiated and adult-initiated activities, which allows children the freedom to make learning choices and explore their world. The room is organized into interest areas so they can explore many concepts while feeling a sense of structure by knowing exactly where everything is located. Infants and toddlers use all of their senses to learn through hands-on experiences, exploring, and discovering. Teachers develop each individual child’s experiences and activities based on their personal observations, knowledge of each child, and understanding of the child’s age group and developmental stage.
Throughout the day we teach positive social interactions to help children learn to share, communicate, cooperate, and care about themselves and others. Through daily interactions with teachers and other children they will learn that their thoughts and opinions are valued. They will learn to make positive choices and develop self-sufficiency.
If you have a question about the program or would like to schedule a tour of the room, please contact our center director. She’ll be happy to help!
